Michaella Montana

CMTC alumni Michaella Montana attended CMTC in 2009. She competed in singing, acting, and modelling competitions. She received 14 callbacks and placed second in the singing competition. CMTC was just the start for Michaella!

Michaella is Cree, Irish, and Lakota from Frog Lake First Nation, Alberta. She is a television host and personality, model, actor, writer, facilitator, and mental health support worker for the Support Network for Indigenous Women & Women of Colour.

Michaella is one of Canada’s Top Indigenous Models. In 2019, she appeared in the Spring Campaign for Nordstrom Canada which was on TV, billboards, and advertisements across the nation. Michaella has modelled in New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Vancouver Fashion Week, Indigenous Fashion Week, and the NBA All-Star Weekend Fashion Show in Los Angeles. She has appeared in Fine Lifestyles Magazine and on the cover with a three-page spread in FCM’s (Filipino Canadian Magazine) – Canada’s Multicultural Magazine.

She was the host of the APTN television series The Other Side and has appeared as a Fashion Expert on CityLine. Michaella can also be seen on the television series Rabbit Fall and the CityTV animation series, Space Stretch. In 2021, you could find Michaella on the new TVO and APTN series, Unsettled.

As a writer, Michaella was accepted into the Netflix Diversity of Voices Initiative at the Banff World Media Film Festival two years in a row.

Michaella’s true passion lies in helping her community and being a positive role model. She speaks to students about the effects of bullying, decision-making, and overcoming negative experiences. She has been called to speak at national conferences like “Honoring our Strengths” in Ottawa. Michaella is a brand ambassador for SheNative and Manitobah Mukluks and is a strong advocate for the Indigenous community.

Michaella was also named as 1 of 8 ambassadors selected for RW&Co.’s campaign, “Rise Up.” She regularly appears on CityLine as a fashion expert and is an official host on eTalk. She co-produced and co-hosted The eTalk special, “Impact & Influence: A Truth and Reconciliation Day Special” which won the Best Variety or Entertainment Special at the 11th Canadian Screen Awards!
