- In this competition, contestants are required to video record themselves performing a pre-selected script prior to the CMTC event.
- The Self-Tape Competition is open to contestants of all ages.
- Pre-selected scripts for this competition will be posted on the Self-Tape Scripts section of the Contestant Hub on March 2, 2027. The password for the Contestant Hub can be found in the contestant’s registration confirmation email.
- Only the pre-selected scripts found on the Self-Tape Scripts section of the Contestant Hub page of CMTC’s website are permitted.
- The character that is not being played by the contestant (who is referred to as the reader) should be off-camera and out of frame but should be clearly heard in your self-tape.
- Contestants must begin their self-tape by slating their name. If you are under the age of 18, also slate your age.
- Contestants registered for this competition must submit their one (1) self-tape on or before March 15, 2027, through the Self-Tape Submission Form found on the Contestant Hub page.
- Judging is based on performance, delivery, believability, and acting range.
- This competition will be judged virtually by industry representatives prior to CMTC.

Self-tapes are becoming increasingly popular in the entertainment industry, especially for talent based outside of Los Angeles and New York. This is a great opportunity to practice the art of self-taping. Record and re-record your self-tape until you are happy with it. Submit the version you are most happy with.
